Help the Missions

Parish Mission Sundays

The Missionary Secretariat of the Franciscans (OFMConv) of the Cracow Province has been organizing parish Mission Sundays since 1999. They were introduced by Fr Piotr Kyć as a permanent element of missionary support.

Over the years, they have become increasingly popular with parish priests in both Franciscan and diocesan parishes. The Secretariat has developed additional activities such as days of recollection, meetings with children at school, meetings with parish groups, etc. The Missionary Secretariat is happy to organize Mission Sundays.

Parish Mission Sunday – What does it look like?

A parish Mission Sunday most often follows this plan. During each Mass, a priest from the Missionary Secretariat preaches. After Mass, his volunteer assistants collect donations for the missions. There is also a table with assorted mission-related materials available and a box for free-will offerings for the missions.

Everyone who wishes can take a copy of the free bulletin, Our Franciscan Missions which comes with a postal-order insert for making a donation to support the missions.

In addition, after Mass, a short film about the missions can be shown in the church. (If necessary, we have our own video equipment and a large screen.) On Saturday or Sunday, it is possible to arrange a larger meeting with a 30-minute film about the missions with time for a discussion and question-and-answer session after the film.

We can adapt the Mission Sunday programme by omitting or adding elements.
